Overview

H-NBR in use

H-NBR is used in sealing technology when very good mechanical properties are required in combination with high temperatures. The material combines the advantages of NBR and EPDM.

As a universal all-round elastomer, H-NBR is used in the automotive industry for a wide variety of applications such as moulded articles, punched parts and O-rings.

Properties

Properties of H-NBR

  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Good tear strength
  • Good resistance to ozone and weathering
  • Very good resistance to various oils, e.g. mineral oil, and to fuels such as kerosene
  • Ideal for dynamic loads
  • Low gas permeability
  • Temperature resistant from -30 °C to +150 °C

Chemical resistance

Resistance of H-NBR

1 = very good 2 = good 3 = limited 4 = poor 5 = very poor
Medium Rating Description
Oils and greases 1 Very good resistance
Acids and alkalis, dilute 1 Very good resistance
Diesel and heating oil 2 Good resistance
Aromatic hydrocarbons 4 Poor resistance
Aliphatic hydrocarbons 2 Good resistance
