More on manufacturing & tolerances

What are rubber T-profiles?

Rubber T-profiles are extruded sealing profiles with a T-shaped cross-section. They are used wherever edges, gaps or joints need to be elastically sealed, compensated or mechanically guided. The characteristic T shape allows easy clamp-in or slide-in mounting and effective separation or sealing of two components.

Our T-profiles are manufactured by continuous extrusion. This ensures high dimensional accuracy and consistent quality, and allows both standard cross-sections and individual special geometries to drawing.

Rubber T-profile seals: applications

  • Cover and separating profiles in machine and plant engineering
  • Door and flap seals in vehicles, housings or control cabinets
  • Seals for glass panes, plastic panels or sheet metal cladding
  • T-joint profiles for covering and sealing joints and gaps
  • Guide elements for moving components
  • Finishing profiles in technical equipment or assembly units

Materials: elastomers for every technical requirement

We manufacture T-profiles from various elastomers and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), in solid or sponge rubber. The choice depends on the thermal, chemical and mechanical load of your application:

  • EPDM: excellent UV, ozone and weather resistance, ideal for outdoor use
  • NBR: resistant to oils, greases and fuels, ideal for machinery and vehicle construction
  • CR (neoprene): good ageing and flame resistance, resistant to chemicals
  • NR/SBR: good abrasion resistance and elasticity for mechanically stressed applications
  • Silicone (VMQ): temperature-stable up to +200 °C, for medical technology and the food industry, FDA or BfR compliant on request
  • Sponge rubber and silicone foam: soft and compressible to compensate larger gaps

Advantages of rubber T-profiles

  • The T shape allows easy mounting in grooves, guides or slide-in channels, for example as a push-in T-profile.
  • Good resilience and sealing performance in continuous use
  • Depending on the material, electrically insulating, highly resistant to chemicals or suitable for food contact
  • High flexibility combined with dimensional stability
  • Available by the metre or as cut sections

Cutting to length and packaging

We deliver your T-profiles in the form you process them:

  • by the metre on reels or in bundles
  • pre-cut to the required length
  • packed securely for transport, to your specification on request

Individual advice and custom designs

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a solid rubber and a sponge rubber T-profile?
A solid rubber T-profile is compact and dimensionally stable and suits guides and mechanically stressed sealing points. A sponge rubber or silicone foam T-profile is soft and highly compressible and compensates larger gaps and tolerances.
How is a push-in T-profile installed?
The web of the T-profile is pushed into a groove, guide or gap. The head rests on the surface and seals or covers the joint. Adhesive is usually not required.
Do you manufacture T-profiles to drawing?
Yes. In addition to standard cross-sections, we manufacture T-profiles to your drawing or sketch, including the matching extrusion die. Small and medium series are also economical.
In what form are the T-profiles delivered?
By the metre on reels or in bundles, pre-cut to length on request and packed to your specification.
