Overview
Thermoplastics in use
Thermoplastics are thermally formable plastics with different properties and possible applications. We use them to manufacture punched parts, water jet cuts and moulded articles in a wide variety of materials.
Rigid and flexible PVC
- Highly water-repellent
- Available in a crystal-clear version and various colours
- Very good wear and abrasion resistance
- Good resistance to acids, alkalis, oils, greases and fuels
PA (polyamide)
- Good wear and abrasion resistance
- Very good mechanical strength and toughness
- Very good sliding properties
- Available as PA, PA6 and PA6.6 (glass fibre reinforced)
- Good resistance to oils, greases and fuels
- Not recommended for acids and alkalis
PC (polycarbonate)
- High strength
- Very good impact strength
- Easy to form
- Good weathering properties for outdoor use
- Good electrical insulating properties
- Resistant to oils and greases
- Not recommended for fuels, acids and alkalis
PE (polyethylene)
- Semi-crystalline plastic
- Very good chemical resistance
- Good wear resistance
- Good electrical insulation resistance
- Physiologically harmless
- Resistant to oils, greases, dilute acids and alkalis
- Not recommended for oxidising agents and hydrocarbons
PP (polypropylene)
- Semi-crystalline plastic
- Completely odourless
- Very easy to machine and very lightweight
- Good temperature resistance, but brittle and prone to breakage in the cold, not suitable for sub-zero temperatures
- Very good resistance to oils, greases, dilute acids and alkalis
- Not recommended for oxidising agents and hydrocarbons
Other plastics such as ABS and POM are also available.
